The United Nations Development Program, UNDP, will supply the south Sudan traffic police with road signs, reflective jackets and computers to help reduce traffic accidents in Juba.
The UNDP rule of law programme team leader Sue Tatten said during the closing of three-day training for senior traffic police officers in Juba that traffic police have important role in maintaining peace in south Sudan.
The deputy commissioner of police in south Sudan David Akwei confirmed that the rate of traffic accidents in Juba has increased this year due to growing number of motorcycles and cars.
Deputy Commissioner of police urged traffic police officers to respect citizens' rights.
More than twenty (20) senior traffic police officers from ten southern states attended the training in Juba.
