Following months of negotiations, the UNMIS Cambodian Military De-mining Company (CMDC) has destroyed yesterday over 50 tones of ammunitions which have been stockpiled in the Joint Integrated Units compound in Malakal.
According to UNMIS Cambodian Military De-mining Company Commander Lt. Col May Soheya, the ammunitions include a number of anti-personnel mines, adding that UNMIS will be helping the government to fulfill its Ottawa Treaty obligations to destroy all known stockpiles of Anti Personnel mines in Sudan.
