The police in Juba fired at a group of students while demonstrating yesterday. The Minister of Finance in Central Equatoria State Angelo Diou , told journalists that the demonstration was in protest against teachers' salary payments delay.

The minister did not reveal whether there were injuries during the incident.

The police was deployed in the streets to scatter the demonstrators, while the Sudan People's Liberation Army forces created a siege on roads leading to the areas which witnessed the protests to prohibit student from reaching the  government buildings in Central Equatoria State.

According to eye witnesses, a number of government vehicles were destroyed, and main markets in Juba were closed for several hours.

Non official sources reported that more than 30 students were arrested.

Miraya FM could not obtain official confirmations on casualties during the incident.
