The SPLM condemned what it called attempts to tarnish the image of educational institutions by - what was described as - "spreading baseless rumors".

In a press release by the SPLM deputy secretary general for the Southern Sector Anne Itto, the party states that it has followed with great concern media reports alleging that the recent admission to Southern universities of returnee students "was biased and largely based on tribalism".

The party reiterated that it shall continue to promote its stated policy of education for all, regardless of race, creed, sex and tribal affiliation.
