Litracy campaign organized in south Sudan |

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Italian government have organized a literacy campaign in Juba to tackle the high level of illiteracy in south Sudan.
The campaign meeting was attended by Education Ministers of all ten southern states as well as GoSS Acting Minister of Education, Science and Technology Albino Akol Akol and Italian Ambassador Roberto Cantone.
According to the Chairperson of South Sudan Legislative Assembly's Committee for Education Resources, Science and Technology Natecio Loluke Manir said that education is a priority for the Government of South Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Education Albino Akol Akol, said that south Sudan has one of the highest rates of illiteracy in the world, due to decades of civil war.
He added that the government is working hard to improve the education of citizens.
