The partners in the Naivasha Peace Agreement, the SPLM and the NCP have agreed on the need for an immediate return of the Sudan People's Movement ministers and legislators in the three Darfur states to resume their duties in order to reach a comprehensive peace settlement for the Darfur crisis.
A joint communique signed by the two parties said that the agreement resulted from joint consultations and discussions between the two ruling partners at the level of the Presidency of the Republic and party organs.
The parties said in a statement that the National Congress Party should not lead the initiative as it is part of the Darfur conflict.
During a press conference, the Chairman of the Popular Congress Party Dr. Hassan Al Turabi said the initiative is an attempt to rescue President Al Bashir from standing on trial before the International Criminal Court.
