Only 1,000 southern Sudanese recieve pensions, official says |

The Director General of Pension and Social Insurance in the Government of Southern Sudan, Madhel Malek said that only around 1,000 southern Sudanese pensioners are receiving their pensions at the moment.
Speaking to Miraya FM Mr. Malek said that there is a need for both the GoSS and the Government of National Unity (GoNU) to speed up work on pension policies and ensure that all the pensioners are going to receive their pensions.
He added that, the debt to Southern Sudan Pension Fund is over 230 million Sudanese Pounds, for the period prior to the year 2005.
He said that actual number of citizens who are eligible to receive their pensions in southern Sudan is still unknown.
