Friday, 03 October 2008

President Omer Al Bashir has cut short his visit to Accra and returned to Khartoum one day before the closing session of the African, Caribbean, Pacific summit.

The President's Press Advisor, Mahjoub Fadel Badri denied the return of the President is related to the ICC request to issue an arrest warrant against him.

Badri confirmed to Miraya FM that, the President returned after he handed the Chairmanship of the current session to the President of Ghana John Kofur.

While addressing the summit, President Al Bashir warned of what he described as the negative impact on the peace process in Darfur and the entire region if he is charged of committing war crimes by the International Criminal Court.
