The Deputy Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, George Echom has called on the Government of South Sudan to put into use the Referral Hospital in Kapoeta so that local population can benefit from medical services.
Addressing Governor's Forum on Wednesday, George Echom said that "community is in need of the hospital because mothers and children are dying near it and it is not being used."
The hospital in Kapoeta was constructed and equipped last year, but according to Echom it has never been put into use due to lack of trained medical personnel and unresolved issue of ownership between the Government of Southern Sudan and local State government.
