The United Nations has launched an urgent call for provision of food aids for the countries of the Horn of African with an estimated seven hundred Million US Dollars, to face a possible famine in the region.

The UN secretary General's coordinator for humanitarian affairs John Holmes said that countries like Somalia and Ethiopia are threatened by famine.

Mr. Holmes added that the reserve food storage has markedly declined in Eritrea, Northern Kenya, North-East Uganda and Djibouti.
