The United Nations Population Fund's health project has launched three reproductive health care books on postpartum, managing newborn problems, and complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
In the handing over ceremony at the Bros Centre in Rumbek town, UNFPA Reproductive Health Care Field Coordinator, Magdalene Armah disclosed that maternal mortality rate is very high in Southern Sudan.
The Director General in the Ministry of Health in Rumbek, Dr. Henry Makeny encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the books and spread the knowledge gained to other health workers in the field.
The beneficiaries of the books are undergoing a month's training in health care providers, emergency obstetrics and Neonatal care under the theme: "No woman should die while giving birth."
