The Lakes State Legislative Assembly has given 48 hours summon to the Governor of the State, Daniel Awet Akot, to give a statement on the malpractices committed during the disarmament operation carried out last Monday in Rumbek town.
The statement which was issued on Tuesday by the Assembly and signed by its Speaker, Isaiah Alier Mashinkok, strongly condemns the arms search operation and calls for its temporary suspension until the provisional order for the disarmament is endorsed by the Assembly.
The statement also adds that the searching forces have been shooting randomly resulting to a number of citizens sustaining severe and fatal injuries.
It further claims that the sum of 90 million Sudanese pounds have been looted all over the town.
The search was conducted in accordance with a provisional order from the Governor of the State on collection of all unauthorized fire arms.
