Sudan Liberation Movement-Abdel Wahid Nour faction accused the armed forces of continuing its attacks today for three consecutive days, on the areas of Diza, Bir Mazza, Wadi Umbaru that belong to faction in Northern Darfur.
The movement’s Field Commander Abdullah Suleiman told Miraya FM that the attacks lead to the displacement of thousands of civilians.
The Joint United Nations/African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) called for an intervention to protect civilians in the area.
On the other hand, the armed forces denied any involvement in these military attacks in Darfur.
The Spokesperson of the armed forces, Osman Mohammed el Aghbash, told Miraya FM that the entry of the armed forces into Bir Mazza area, was not supported by any military operation and did not face any resistance.
Meanwhile, the United States called for accelerating the investigation of the recent incident in Kalma IDP Camp in south Darfur, where 31 people were killed following clashes between the IDP’s and government forces last week.
The Charge D'Affaires of the US Embassy in Khartoum, Alberto Fernandez, said that the government has to speed up the punishment of those involved in the Kalma incident similar to what it did with the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) members involved in the attack on Omdurman.
