The GoSS Minister of Education, Science and Technology Job Dhoruai has been summoned by the Parliament's Education Committee to explain how the expenses in his Ministry are being managed.
The Chairman of Educational Committee in the South Sudan Parliament Nartisio Loluke said that in the last three years about 700 million Sudanese pounds were given to the education sector in south Sudan and it is time the Ministry to explain how it has been spent.
However, a member of the committee, Dr. Jimmy Wongo, said that "most of the scholarships were given to the children of ministers." He stressed that south Sudan "cannot fight 95% of illiteracy if nepotism is exercised during offering scholarships."
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology Job Dhoruai said that his Ministry "is happy to appear before the Education Committee in the Parliament so that they may address the challenges together."
