The South Sudan Electricity Corporation (SSEC) has started testing electric lights as part of its effort to electrify Wau Town.

SSEC Area Manager in Wau, Ernesto Bol Acho told Miraya FM that Wau will get electric power 24 hours.

The Area Manager said the cost of the project is 6 million US Dollars and is all covered by donation from the Government of Egypt, which is also financing similar projects in Rumbek, Yambio and Bor towns.

According to Ernesto Bol, after few weeks of further installations of transformers and commissioning process, thousands of Wau households and institutions will get electricity for the fist time since December 2006 when the two old engines came to a halt because of lack of spare parts.
