Traders and dealers in southern Sudan have been warned against selling expired goods in Juba and other towns.
In an interview with Miraya FM, the acting director general for metrology and standards in the Ministry of commerce, trade and supply, Mr. Malual Kuir said that the Ministry is inspecting on regular basis trading centers to check for expired products.
This week, over one thousand (1,000) expired food items and drugs were reported to have been confiscated by the authorities in Torit, Eastern Equatoria State.
South Sudan assembly’s committee of legislation and legal affairs has presented on Wednesday the Child Bill to the assembly for deliberation in the second reading.
One of the chapters of the Child Bill is proposing that children should be given employment rights at the age of fourteen years and be paid for their work.
However the minister of parliamentary affairs Elias Lomoro told the Assembly that the age of fourteen is too low for a child to be employed.
The speaker of the south Sudan Legislative assembly James Wani Iga decided that more deliberations on the Bill would continue on Monday next week so that the parliament can critically discuss it before the Bill is passed.
About two hundred students from secondary schools in Juba have attended the deliberation session on the Child Bill.
