The Sudanese government called on the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) to apologize over its statement that the trail of the members of the Justice and Equality Movement did not met international standard.
The Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, Ali Sadiq, told Miraya FM that the UNMIS statement is a foreign intervention into the Sudanese internal affairs.
Mr. Sadiq said that the Sudanese court is known with its fairness.
The statement which was issued by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General to Sudan Ashraf Qazi said that it appears that the accused were only given access to lawyers after the trials began.
The statement added that confessions were obtained while the accused were held incommunicado and in the absence of legal counsel and the court did not investigate allegations of ill treatment, as requested by defense counsel.
The statement added that, UNMIS is concerned about the judicial process under the Anti Terrorist Act which only allows for a very limited appellate process.
The Special Anti-Terrosist Court in Khartoum earlier sentenced thirty people accused of being involved behind the Omdruman attacks to death by hanging.
