60 police officersalready deployed to Abyei, UNMIS Coordinator says |

The Regional Coordinator of the UNMIS, David Gressly, confirmed that (60) police officers have been already deployed to Abyei area.
Speaking during his regular monthly press conference in Juba Mr. Gressly said that United Nations police will commence training of the police officers once the Joint police unit is fully deployed in Abyei.
He said that "a few Sudan Armed Forces and SPLA solders" are still present in Abyei area.
Commenting on the return of internally displaced people to Abyei Gressly reiterated that repatriation should be done voluntarily.
