The police reported that tens of Kenyan students were accused of setting fire after riots in some schools claimed the live of one person and injured more. The police spokesperson Eric Kiraytee said that students are accused of setting fire on many houses during the protests which led to closing about 20 secondary schools in the country.

The students were protesting bad conditions at work and administration.

The government banned the use of cell phones and musical instruments in schools.

Minister of Education Sam Ungeiri said in the Parliament that these cell phones are used in coordinating the riots, spreading the political violence, and drug dealing in many schools.
