African leaders concluded the 11th African Union Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, with a call on the parties to the conflict in Zimbabwe to exercise dialogue and self restraint.
The Communiqué of the summit expressed concern on the situation in Darfur and called on all the involved parties to collaborate with international mediation.
Some of the issues mentioned in the final statement included the border conflict between Djibouti and Eritrea, the situation in Somalia, the international food crisis and development challenges in Africa.
For his part, the Media Advisor to the President Mahjoub Fadel Badri denied news reports of an Egyptian mediation to arrange a meeting between the Presidents of Chad Idriss Deby and Sudanese counterpart Omer Al-Bashir on the sidelines of the meetings of the African Union Summit.
In a phone interview with Miraya FM, Mr. Badri renewed Sudan's commitment to all agreements signed between the two countries, stressing Sudan’s pursuance of good neighborly relations with Chad, as he put it.
