Popular Congress Party welcomes release of 16 of its members PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 23 June 2008
The Popular Congress Party has welcomed the security authority's decision of releasing 16 of its members who have been detained since 2003 for what's known as the sabotage attempt.

However, the justice official in the party, Kamal Omar, told Miraya FM that 12 others are still imprisoned.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Defense of the defendants in the Omdurman events, Sati3 Al-Haj, said that the lawyers withdrew from the trial because the court denied their plead to meet clients.

Speaking to Miraya FM, he stressed that they will never go back to the trials unless the prosecution agree to allow them to meet the defendants.
