The Southern Sudan Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries has embarked on examining ducks for bird flu (avian influenza) in Juba.
The Director General for Poultry Services Dr. Akol Malual said that current testing of bird’s blood is aimed at knowing bird’s health status following the outbreak of the bird flue disease in 2006 in Juba.
He said that there are no cases of bird flu reported in Juba at the moment.
The six days campaign will involve taking blood samples from ducks from every household where ducks are kept.
