Sudan celebrates African Child day |

Children of Rumbek, Lakes State have joined children all over Africa, to celebrate the African Child Rights day on Monday.
In Malakal city children handed a memo to the state government in a festival held for the African Child Rights day, the memo demanded children rights such as education, health insurance and entertainment.
Gluack Deng, Upper Nile State governor, assured the crowd that the government will take care of all the children's demands. He urged the children to elevate the academic skills. The governor of Jonglei State Lt.Gen Kuol Manyang directed the law enforcement agencies in Jonglei to apply the traffic law that prevents children driving motor bikes and vehicles below the age of eighteen (18). The governor on the other hand issued an order to the state police to arrest the parents of the children who commit those irregularities and be prosecuted in the court of law.
Speaking during a celebration to mark the African child day yesterday at Bor freedom square, Governor Manyang warned the parents and business community of using the children to sell their goods in the markets instead of sending them to schools.
In Kadugli the capital of Southern Kordofan State, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Woman and Child Affairs, celebrated the African Child Day under the slogan: “No More Military Activities for Children below the Age of 18.” The Minister of Social Welfare in the State, Awatif Al-Toum, said that the State’s government is working to maintain the records of children free of stigmas.
