The State Minister at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Ahmed Haroun, denied that the International Criminal Court-ICC- which accuses him of committing war crimes in Darfur had tried to kidnap him.
He said that the mere thought of hijacking his plane is an act of terrorism and criminal behavior. He accused the ICC of lying saying that he did not plan to go on pilgrimage in 2007.
He added that the ICC is the party that commits crimes and hijacks.
Ahmed Haroun further said that the recent statements of the court are part of a plan to divert attention away from the Chad-backed attack of the Justice and Equality Movement on Omdurman last month, as he said.
On Friday, the International Criminal Court revealed a plan to arrest the State Minister at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Ahmed Haroun for committing crimes in Darfur.
The court said that the idea was to divert his plane, as it was heading for Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage, to land in another country which the court did not name.
Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of the justice committee in the National Council, Ghazi Suleiman, described the court’s plan as “an act of hijacking.” He told Miraya FM that this behavior totally contradicts the international law which the court calls for applying.
