The Women Development Group in Wau town of the Western Bahr al-Ghazal State has organized a two-day workshop on small arms and light weapons control under the theme "Together we can reduce gun violence and stop domestic violence".

The workshop is aimed at preparing the ground for the Global Week of Action against Gun Violence celebration.

Addressing the women who gathered for the occasion, the state adviser for security affairs Juliet Raphael Michael said that women have a role to play in educating their children about the dangers of light weapons at home.

Madam Juliet called on the State Government and the ddr commission to immediately destroy the arms collected through disarmament or store them in places where they cannot be reached by children.
