The Deputy Chairman of the SPLM-northern sector, Yassir Arman, told the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that there are some issues which are not resolved regarding the Abyei problems. Mr. Arman said that the sub-committees will continue with their meetings till the meeting of the higher executive political committee. He added that the US envoy to Sudan, Richard Williamson, is exerting efforts to get the partners of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement very close. The Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly meanwhile formed a committee to draft a resolution aimed at speeding up the implementation of the Abyei protocol. The five-member committee which is being led by Dr. Jimmy Wongo from the Union of Sudan African Parties (USAP) is expected to visit Abyei to gather enough information that would allow it draft the resolution.
