Ban Ki-moon urges CPA parties to commit to cease-fire in Abyei |

The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, urged the parties to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, to commit themselves to the cease-fire agreement in Abyei.
The Chief of the Public Information Office of the United Nations Mission in Sudan, Khalid Mansur, told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that the latest military confrontation mounted to a full scale of war.
On his part, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General to Sudan, Ashraf Qazi, said that the renewal of skirmishes in Abyei hampered humanitarian operations in the region. The UN regional coordinator for south Sudan David gressly visited agok area of south abyei town to assess the humanitarian situation of the displaced people in the area.
Meanwhile, thousands of Wau citizens went on a peaceful demonstration to denounce the killings and destruction of properties in Abyei town.
The Deputy Chairman of the SPLM in Western Bahr el-Ghazal State, Anthony Kpandu described the fight in Abyei as a massacre of the people of the area.
