The Spokesman of the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Nour Eddine Al-Mazni, told Miraya FM that the Mission is totally committed to the environment conservation.
That came in response to the accusation against the mission of abusing forests in Northern Darfur State.

The National Forestry Corporation earlier criticized the government of North Darfur State for allocating 200 acres of Al-Fashir woodland to UNAMID.

Meanwhile, the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, expressed concern over the escalations of conflict in Darfur.

The Spokesperson of Ban Ki-Moon, Marei Okabie, said that the UN Secretary General urged all the parties to the conflict to cease hostilities, cooperate with the UNAMID to provide security and to commit to the political process led by the special envoys of the UN and the African Union.
