The formal sessions of the Second International Donors Conference to support the peace agreement in southern Sudan, have started yesterday in the Norwegian Capital, Oslo. The conference participants included the Governments of National Unity and south Sudan, the United Nations, the World Bank and donor nations.

Vice President Ali Osman Taha addressed the opening session, as well as a number of heads of participating delegations.

Taha called on donors to help resolve Sudan's debt problems, lift economic sanctions and support agricultural projects.

Speaking during a telephone interview with Miraya FM Dr. Taj Assir Mahjoub, member in the Government of National Unity delegation, talked about the delegations’ expectations regarding the fulfillment of the donors’ pledges.
