Wednesday, 07 May 2008
The Chairman of the South Sudan Census Commission Isaiah Chol said his Commission has successfully completed the Census exercise with a coverage rate of 90 to 95 percent. Speaking to the press in Juba, Mr. Chol cited four major challenges faced by his Commission during this exercise which include: insecurity, influx of returnees, heavy rains and unmapped areas.

Mr. Chol also said this is the first time for southern Sudanese to conduct Census by themselves, adding that the Census has been successful, despite that no State has reached 100 percent of coverage.

He also revealed that the least Census performance was in Eastern Equatoria State.
