Food crisis is man-made, UN Rapporteur says |

The newly appointed UN Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Oliver De Schutter, has accused the International Monitoring Fund (IMF) of compelling the poor countries to export food commodities.
De Schutter said on Friday that currently many major investment firms were heavily investing in food commodities, such as corn, wheat, and cattle.
He said that the food crisis as "is not a natural disaster, it is not an earthquake," but it is a man-made crisis.
