Upon his arrival, Sami Al-Haj, was immediately admitted to Al-Amal Hospital in Khartoum for medical treatment as directed by the Sudanese government. In his first comment, Sami Al-haj expressed happiness for being home again.
He said that the detainees in Guantanamo are not allowed to do their prayers and suffer other extreme religious violations adding that the American soldiers defile the Quran.

The public diplomacy officer in the US Embassy, Walter Braunholer, said that it remains to be seen if the relations between the two countries are going to be normalized.
