Leaders in the Blue Nile State demanded compensations for the citizens who might be affected by upgrading Al-Ruseiris Dam. 

Brigadier General, Mohammed Jawda, the Deputy Chairman of the Land and Water Resources Committee in the Interim National Council, and one of the State’s Representatives in the Parliament, said that they will ask the National Council to specify a law to compensate the affected by the project similar to what happened in other areas in Sudan.
