More than 150 citizens from Jur River County in Western Bahr el-Ghazal State gathered on Monday at the Peace Hall in the State General Secretariat for a peaceful protest.
The demonstrators were protesting against equal representation of Counties in the SPLM Conference of Western Bahr el-Ghazal State. They said that the SPLM Supervisory Committee sent from Juba decided to take equal number of delegates to represent their Counties. Addressing the protesters, Commissioner of Jur River County and Chairman of the SPLM in the County, Col. Wol Dhel Thiep, strongly denounced the decision.
He said that according to the SPLM membership registry, Jur River County has the majority over the other two counties of Wau and Raja.
