Construction of a road linking Southern Sudan and Ethiopia through Boma in Eastern Equatoria is underway.
In an interview with Miraya FM, the Under-Secretary in the GoSS Ministry of Transport and Roads, Dr. Daniel Wani, confirmed that his ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ethiopia road authorities which aim to open up a border road. He said that the work on the road has started. Dr. Wani said that the road construction in Juba town is going well and that the Ministry has taken steps to resolve the problem of inaccessible roads which occurred in the region during last year’s rainy season. He mentioned that the road from Juba to Mundri in Western Equatorial State will soon be opened since the building of a bridge is now coming to a completion. He however pointed out the soil condition and delay in the delivery of construction materials are some of the challenges that the Ministry is faced with.
