Friday, 18 April 2008
The National Population Council (NPC) endorsed the decision of the Presidency to start the Census on the 22nd of April countrywide. This was confirmed by the Chairman of the Southern Sudan Census, Statistics and Evaluation Commission, Isaiah Chol.

However, people in Juba town expressed mixed feelings about conducting the census on the 22nd of April.Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Census Committee in the Southern Kordofan State remarked that the postponement of the Census to the 22nd of April gives the committee more time to sort out the difficulties it is facing.Yahia Adam pointed out that enumerators had not reached some areas in the state due to lack of funds and logistics.
