More than 500 returnees from northern states arrived in Wau in West Bahr el-Ghazal State yesterday, and were welcomed by a number of officials of the Government of Western Bahr el-Ghazal, and partners from the voluntary return operation of displaced persons from non-governmental organizations and the United Nations.
Minister of the Local Government and law implementation in West Bahr el-Ghazal, Isaac Elias pledged when he met the returnees that the government would help in finding jobs for them for the sake of the development needs of the south.
Elias said that the state will allocate land to returnees, encouraging them to register their children in schools and to present their certificates to the ministries and concerned departments in the state.
On the other hand, more than 54 passengers on their way to Malakal from Renk were looted by a unknown armed group last Saturday.
