The National Congress and the Umma parties have signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday.
The Secretary General of the Umma Party, Abdul-nabi Ali Ahmed, said that the two parties agreed on almost 80% of all the issues opened for discussion.
Mr. Ahmed said that the most important points agreed upon are the issue of Darfur and democratic transformation in the country.
However, Mr. Ahmed refused to comment about the contents of the agreement. He added that the two parties did not reach an understanding on the issue of unity.
