The Spokesman for the Ugandan government delegation to the negotiations, Captain Chris Magezi, said the matter is concerned to be an important step to put an end to twenty years of civil war in northern Uganda, and added that the agreement will allow the former LRA fighters to join the Ugandan army and those who wish to return to civilian life to do so.

It is noteworthy that the two sides signed a permanent ceasefire agreement that will open the way for more negotiations leading to the signing of a comprehensive peace agreement.
