The Minister of Education in Western Equatoria State, Ms. Grace Datiro, inaugurated a center to promote the learning of French language in Yambio town.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Ms. Datiro termed the introduction of the center as a significant opportunity for students, and teachers who are willing to gain French language skills.

She said the centre will also help link tribes in the area.

Professor Mongi Madini of the University of Juba said the more centers of this kind would be opened in Wau and Malakal.

Meanwhile, more than 90 head masters and teachers are participating in a 3 week training in teaching methodologies in the State.

Addressing the participants, Ms. Grace Datiro stressed that the teachers are the pillars of education.

In addition to that, Ms. Datiro called upon the teachers to educate the citizens on how to combat HIV-AIDS, and to provide more education opportunities for girls.
