UNMIS Force Commander : UN coordinates international support for the Joint Integrated Units |

The United Nations Missions’ Force Commander, Lt Gen Jasper Lidder Singh said that the redeployment of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF), and the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA) from the 1956 border is in progress.
Speaking during the official opening of a resource center on Wednesday in Maridi in Western Equatoria State, Singh added that the two armies are steadily moving away from the border line without problems.
He said that the problem of the SPLM suspending participation in the Government of National Unity, the non - implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, and the Abyei border issue are being resolved agreeably. Lt. Gen.Lidder told the SPLA and the Joint Integrated Unit (JIU) that UN mission is given an additional mandate to coordinate international support for the training of the JIUs.
The Executive Director of Maridi County, Daniel Waure, appealed to UNIMIS to rehabilitate the Maridi Dam, and water filter which have been damaged during the war.
