More than 300 IDPs returning to Malakal from Northern Sudan refused to get off a steamship in Malakal town in the Upper Nile state.
They, moreover, threatened to return to north Sudan if the state government did not provide them with residential plots, and until these demands are met, they requested to stay in separate areas.
These voluntary returnees are the third group to go back to the state since last year.
The International Organization for Migration is organizing the repatriation of the IDPs from Khartoum, and Kosti to Malakal.
Upper Nile’s Minister of Social Welfare, Sara Niyas, explained to Miraya FM her ministry’s plan to resolve the problem.
