Fifteen political parties submitted an urgent memo to the Constitutional Review Commission about setting a deadline of January 24th as the last day for consultations on the new election bill.
The Communist Party Representative, Siddiq Yousuf, told Miraya FM that the letter contains some proposals.
He warned of putting pressure on the Commission to rush the bill through parliament.
For his part, the prominent figure in the Popular Congress Party, Kamal Omar Abdul-Salam, held the ruling National Congress Party as being responsible for the slow pace of the debate on the bill.
He also called for solidarity among the political parties in the coming elections.
Meanwhile, the Joint Chairman of the Commission, Abdullah Idris, said that the controversy over the draft law is about one point only.
Mr. Idris informed Miraya FM that next week they will discuss the final formulation before submission to the specialized authorities.
