The Sudan Liberation Movement-Unity faction accused the government of violating the ceasefire announced by the movement during the recent holiday season, pointing out that the violation will affect the peace process in Darfur.
The Deputy Chairman of the Movement, Mansur Arbab, told Miraya FM that the government bombarded some areas in South and West Darfur.
Meanwhile, the Spokesperson of the African Union in Sudan Nur Al-Din Al-Mazzini confirmed that the Representative of the Joint UN-AU forces in Darfur is exerting efforts for the release of the representatives of the Sudan Liberation Movement in the Ceasefire Commission in Darfur, who were detained by the government.
Al-Mazzini said he hopes these efforts will succeed
The authorities in North Darfur arrested five representatives of the Sudan Liberation Movement in the Ceasefire Commission last December.
The arrests took place against the backdrop of the clashes between government forces and SLM fighters.
