An Islamic group calling itself Jamaat Al Tawhid has claimed responsibility for the death of the American Diplomat in Khartoum last Tuesday.
The group was quoted in the internet saying that they have killed the American diplomat and the Sudanese driver whom they said had given up his faith for worldly gains.
The group is believed to have a base in Egypt, while the media official in the Egyptian Embassy in Khartoum, Mohamed Ali Karib, denied to Miraya FM existence of the group in his country. He said “I do not know if there is a Egyptian Islamic group called “Monotheism Supporters-Ansar Al-Tawheed” and that it is active in Sudan.
The Sudanese government is working hard to probe the motivation behind the incident. In this Internet age, anyone can say anything and claim belonging to any group, without documents or verification or anything.”
A team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation has meanwhile arrived in Khartoum to participate in the investigations on the killing of the American diplomat John Michael.
