The leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Mohammed Osman Al-Mirghani, has urged the two partners in the government of National Unity to resolve their outstanding issues and implement the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
Speaking to the SPLM delegation visiting Cairo, Al-Mirghani said that under his initiative a national conference should be convened to solve all the Sudanese problems.
He said that he will be returning to Sudan in the New Year.
The Sudanese government welcomed Al-Mirghani’s initiative considering it as a step forward to find a peaceful solution to the country’s problems.
Speaking to the press, the Presidential Advisor, Mustafa Osman Isamil, said that he is taking this chance by calling on all those carrying arms to lay down their arms, to cease fire, and joint the peace process.
"we hope that the factions and other members who still think they can achieve their goals through holding guns to respond to this call and accept negotiations," said Mr. Ismail.
He added that the country is comprehensively for everyone and Sudan is strong by its people, "its powerful by reconciliation and agreement," said Smail.
