The World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the Rift Valley Fever has spread rapidly in Sudan, with 218 fatalities and 631 infections since its outbreak in October.
In a released statement by the WHO, it said that the current estimates are a steep rise from the November figures provided by the Sudanese Health Ministry in about 362 cases, including 94 deaths.
The statement said that human infections of Rift Valley Fever resulted from direct or indirect contact with blood or organs of infected animals.
This can include contact with blood during butchering, assisting with animal births, or disposing of carcasses.
