Abu Baker Mustafa- Kordofan
Muslims around the world are celebrating the Adha Feast.
The citizens who spoke to Miraya FM expressed their good wishes to all Sudanese and relatives, while others believe the celebration of Adha and Christmas on the same week strengthens religious tolerance.
In Kordofan, our colleague, Abu Baker Mustafa, sent us this report after attending the occasion in Shaira village in Kadugli: " Prayers for this Eid Al-Adha feast began at eight thirty in this morning in Sharia village with the Imam of the mosque speaking about the story of Abraham in the Quran and the importance of obeying the Almighty. After the prayer Al-Zaki Ahmed spoke to us on how to celebrate this feast in the village, he said we begin with visiting our relatives house to house to greet them on the commencement of the feast and then after that, you go home for the morning tea. Then you go to the prayer of the Eid Al-Adha and after that you sit in groups in only a male society, then comes the slaughtering of the sheep. The meat is divided into two parts one for the poor in the community and the other for the family. Asking Al-Zaki on the sheep prices,he said it varies depending on the weight of the sheep and it ranges between 120 to 130 thousand pounds, adding that there are a lot of sheep this year for sale despite fears of the spread of the Rift Valley disease.Women have the sole responsibility to divide the meat I also spoke to Faiza Mohamed who told us that she divides the meat into seven parts and cooks it, following that she prepares the food for the family, and the neighbors are given some food too.Feasting in the village is different from feasting in the town here, everybody feels he belongs to one family of relatives and everybody is treated with great hospitality which reflects the hospitality of the Sudanese people.
