The presidents of IGAD countries will hold a summit in Kenya in the few coming days to discuss the partnership crisis between the National Congress and the SPLM.
Atallah Hamad Bashir, IGAD’s Executive Secretary, told Miraya FM from Djibouti that the summit will discuss the level of implementation of the Peace Agreement.
Atallah revealed :“the attempt to hold the IGAD summit existed from the beginning because it created the CPA and it is the only body responsible for it. But we are late, because we wanted to give the two partners the opportunity not to escalate the situation. The attempts are promising. Kenya is now taking its role as it is holding IGAD’s presidency. The Kenyan President is making contacts in order to hold the summit within the coming days.” The Inter-Governmental Authority for Development which includes Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia facilitated the Sudanese Peace Talks.
