More than 21,000 ex-combatants register for the disarmament process

The Southern Sudan Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission, has registered more than twenty one thousand soldiers for disarmament. The director general of the commission, Benjamin Gimba, said the registration process started with the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) combatants. He added that the registrations took place in south Sudan, the NubaMountains, the Southern Blue Nile and Abyei. "Practically they are all disarmed-but now what remains to be done next is the D which is the demobiliazatiion and you know demobiliazation is a process which requires the candidates to be in a location where they will be briefed," said Gimba.He said that the candidates need to go through counciling and tranining.
